His senses hightened as soon as he stepped into the house, he could sense another presence somewhere upstairs in his room. He sighed, rolled his eyes and shook his head in exhaustion, the scent was all too familiar, he had really hoped not to see her. At least not anytime soon.
She was perched on his dresser beside the bed, legs crossed and with a seducing smile on her face which only grew as soon as Keith opened the door to his bedroom.
"Hi," she greeted casually. "You're back rather early."
Keith didn't look in her direction, but walked towards the closet, "What brings you here Laura?"
"Hi Laura, been a while, how have you been? Isn't that what you're supposed to say?" She scoffed and chuckled, "That's not a nice way to address a guest."
"First, this is my house, however I wish to address a person who entered here without my notice is for me to decide. Second, the guest should have known not to walk into this room, but remained downstairs where there is a space large enough for receiving guests," he looked at her now as he replied.
"This is your house," Laura smiled and drummed her fingers on the dresser, "Yeah that's right. I shouldn't consider myself a guest here, should I?"
Keith sighed, he had taken off his suit and was now in a turtle neck, "Again, what brings you here, Laura?"
She pushed herself off the dresser as Keith came to sit on the bed. He sighed in exhaustion, pinched the bridge of his nose and shut his eyes for a second, it was obvious he needed some rest.
She paced slowly and calculatively in front of him as she spoke, "You didn't seem surprised when I showed up at your meeting with James."
Keith's eyebrow furrowed slightly, "With James?"
Laura's smiled faded slightly, "James. Donovan James."
Keith rolled his eyes, "Why would I be?"
"Why wouldn't you be? I'm sure you never expected to see me there and with him. You cannot tell me you were not surprised."
He shook his head and answered her honestly, "I never expected to see you, but things played out the way they did. You have your choice of men."
She smiled and nodded, "I was the one who convinced him to partner with Ortho Speare."
"I am aware, he mentioned," Keith replied like he was already tired of seeing her. And he was.
"There was a reason I chose him and went after him, there was a reason I insisted he partner with you," She smirked now, "And I could still influence him otherwise."
Keith sighed and brought his head down, resting his temple on his index and thumb, "Laura be plain, what are you trying to say, be out with it. I don't have the patience for your games and guesses."
She smiled sinisterly. Keith had always been a smart one, he could always tell when she had something up her sleeve, like she did now. she took a couple of steps closer to him, causing him to lift his head to look at her.
“If you let go of Donna Brooks, I will hands off your business with Mr. Donovan,” she licked her lips and fixed her eyes on Keith. “Get her fired from her job.”
A smile came to his face, and for the longest of seconds he just stared at her before he finally replied to her, “If I am to do that, I would need a replacement immediately.”
Laura got excited by his reply and she came to sit beside him, “Then you can pick from the dozens of secretaries Ortho Speare has, surely someone is capable of filling in her shoes and doing the job.”
He shook his head, that smile still on his face, “Not like Donna.”
“What?” Laura chuckled, “Is she some kind of protege? Goddess of secretaries that cannot be replaced?”
"Goddess of secretaries?" Keith hummed with a chuckle, he did seem to like the word she used, "You could say that. Yes, she is something like that."
Laura frowned and pushed away from him, her anger was evident, "That is not funny Keith."
"Never said it was Laura," he replied to her. This time, he turned so he could stare at her face, his smile fading fast.
Laura's frown deepened and she stood up, walked back to the dresser and crossed her arms, "Everybody is replaceable Keith, even your so-called goddess of secretaries!"
Keith shrugged his shoulders, "I never said nobody is, I mean, you're a perfect example, aren't you Laura?"
Her frown deepened and she fixed her eyes on Keith, moving away from the dresser still with her arms crossed, "What exactly do you mean by that?"
He shut his eyes for a second as he replied to her, "You know exactly what I mean by that, or do you wish for me to remind you that you are no longer a Luna?"
Laura fisted her palm in anger as she turned her face away from Keith, but she chose to remain calm so she let out a long breath through her mouth, then turned her face back to him with a smile.
"I may not be, but I know I'm not replaced." Her chin tilted higher, "I cannot be."
Keith scoffed, "That's what you think."
She frowned again, "You cannot replace a Luna like you're replacing a broken tea cup Keith!"
"Then why are you getting worked up?" He asked her with a smirk on his face.
She shook her head and reminded herself to remain calm and composed, "I'm not worked up, I am perfectly calm."
"Good," Keith nodded, "And remian calm after I tell you I have a new Luna lined up."
Laura's head snapped in his direction and a frown came to her face, "You do?! That's... not possible! I've know you for a very long time and I know you're not as close to any other woman as you are to me."
Keith's eyebrow rose with a smirk on his face, "Are you sure about that Laura? Think hard."
