Chapter To See Her

Ever since the discovery of him having a daughter, Jeremy had not had a single moment of calm in his head. He wanted to see the girl, he wanted to hold the girl, he wanted to know the girl. Plus the occurrence of Cheryl's unstable mentality, no one could tell when she would snap and attack his child again. No one, he believed, could protect his daughter quite like he would.

No one.

Not even Donna.

And that was why he had come all the way to Ortho Speare to see Donna, but he didn't go up. He wouldn't because Keith was now being a block between himself and Donna, and he was beginning to wonder if the CEO of Ortho Speare was having a liking for his personal secretary.

He leaned against Donna's car - or at least he thought it was - seeing that it was the only car parked in the reserved spot. Keith was a strict business man, and some occasions could warrant him to go out, unaccompanied by his personal secretary, so if one of them was to remain in the office, then it would be Donna.

He checked his wrist watch, it was already two minutes past closing time, Donna should be heading down now.

He pushed himself off the car and begun to pace. He was uneasy and on edge. Cheryl may not be able to harm his daughter now, all thanks to him but he still needed to see his child. Donna had no right to keep them apart. Absolutely no right what so ever.

He heard the elevator door ding open and he stopped pacing. He stood by the car and faced the elevator. Donna was just stepping out alone and fishing through her bag looking for something. He frowned.

"Donna," he called out to her and approached her as Donna's head came up and her face showed surprise.

"Jeremy?" She called out to him and looked back briefly as if expecting someone to be behind her, "What are you doing here?"

"Donna," he called again and stopped when he was in front of her. He placed a hand on her shoulders and let out a sigh. He looked into her surprised and confused eyes as he spoke. Pleading, "Please Donna, let me see her."

She looked at him confused, "See who?"

"My child," he said, "Let me see my child."

Donna frowned and shrugged her shoulders until his hands fell off them. She took a step back, "What child?"

Jeremy groaned, "Now's not the time to play pretend Donna. Please just... I want to see her."

"I don't know what you're talking about Jeremy," she said and walked past him, "You do not have a child with me, perhaps with Cheryl?"

He turned around and followed her, "Please Donna, how can you keep her away from her father? You're keeping me away from my own child."

"Because you do not deserve a child Jeremy!" She turned and snapped at him, anger very clear in her expression, "You do not!" She repeated.

He sighed, "Donna, if this is about what happened some six years ago, I have explained to you why I had to do what I did!"

"An explanation doesn't make everything better or fixes anything Jeremy," she said to him, "I needed that explanation then, but most definitely not now. You should go back to your wife."

"Stop being so difficult."

"Stop following me around!"

"Donna!" Jeremy snapped but Donna didn't flinch. She continued walking towards the car. He quickly walked up to her and held her by the shoulder, pinning her back against the car.

Donna frowned angrily at him, "And what is the meaning of this Jeremy!"

"I can decide to use legal means to go up against you, and you know that I will win!"

"Then I dare you to try!" She yelled back, "Let me see what judge would grant custody to a man who left his pregnant fiancee days after proposing just to get married to another! And is still married!"

"I had no idea you were pregnant Donna," he softened but held her still by the shoulder against the car, "You didn't say."

"I was going to tell you about it that night!" Her eyes glistened, "But you just had to end things like that."

His shoulders dropped and he softened, "You were? If I had known, things would have worked out differently."

"Just like you didn't need to know then Jeremy, you still don't need to know now. Let go," she said to him and shrugged her shoulders but he wouldn't let her go.

"Donna please," he begged, "I just need to see her."

"That's never going to happen Jeremy, not while your mentally unstable wife is in the picture!"

"Cheryl will never be able to harm her again," he said to assure her, "I've made sure of that."

"And you think I'd trust your words?" She chuckled, "You cannot even control her."

"Just trust me."

"That is something I can never..."

"Donna," they were both startled when Keith called out her name, walking calmly towards them. He had both hands shoved into his pockets and his eyes fixed on Jeremy.

Jeremy's hands dropped from Donna's shoulder as he too shoved them into his pockets and faced Keith. He took a step closer to Donna so she was a little bit more behind him.

"What's going on here?" Keith asked with a smile on his face.

"Nothing that should concern you," Jeremy replied to Keith rudely.

"I believe I asked the question to Donna and not to you Mr. Xiu," he said to Jeremy and moved his eyes to Donna, "Donna? What's going on here?"

Donna hesitated, "It's nothing Keith."

He smiled, "If it's nothing then you should already be in the car Donna."

“Keith… I…” she started to say but Keith was already pissed off seeing her and Jeremy together.

"Get into the car Donna," he said as calmly as she could. Donna could already see that he was trying hard to keep his anger inside.

"Keith, let me just..."
