Deanara’s POV
“I’ll call you back!” I turned off the phone and faced Gray.
“Ah. You are here. I was looking -”
“What did you just say?” He was calm yet I could see that he was controlling himself not to make a scene after that phone call.
“Nothing.” I shook my head. “Oh. You have donut--”
“I AM ASKING WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?” He raised his voice and I could see the anger in his eyes. “You lied to me. You lied to me?”
“Gray. It’s already…”
He dropped the paperbag on the floor and slowly walked towards me while I moved backwards until he pinned me to the wall.
“You lied to me? You didn’t cheat on me?” He laughed. “Why would you do that!?” He was already angry. “Why would you lie to me? Why would you ruin us? We could be happy now. We could be married---”
“Because of Vivian!” I shouted which made him stop. I pushed him away and I could no longer stop myself from crying but I still managed to pick up my phone and showed him the picture that I have been keeping since. I want to delete it but I just can’t.
“Because you cheated on me! Because of Vivian! It’s Vivian...it’s always…” He hugged me and caressed my back which even made me cry harder.
“I am so sorry.” He whispered. “I didn’t know.”
“No!” I pushed him away. “Don’t fool me, Gray! I am tired of you and your lies. You told me you love me and then you will go see Vivian? What am I then? Something you love when you are bored?”
“No. Let me explain.” He stopped me.
“No. I don’t want to hear it.” I said, walking away, but he stopped me.
“You didn’t let me explain back then that is why we are here in this situation and I believe you are gonna regret it forever if you will not hear me explain!” He demanded. “For once, listen to me.”
“Okay.” I nodded as I wiped my tears. “Do it, but don’t lie.”
“I never lied, babe!” He smiled at me and continued speaking.
“I went to see Vivian because of his husband who asked me to build a house for them. I need to personally see it and I also went in there to see Vivian…”
“See?” I scowled.
“Listen. If you speak again, I’ll swear I am gonna get you pregnant by tonight.”
I was mad but that somehow made me smile.
“I want to clarify to Vivian if she brainwashed you or she told you lies because you’ve been telling me about Vivian all the time. I mean, you even mentioned that I cheated on you with her. And, you’re not clarifying it to me.”
“So…”
“She told me that she never told you anything or for the nth time she lied because she sent you that.”
“And? What do you mean to say?”
“It’s not real. Nothing happened with us when we were already together.” He promised. “I would admit something happened between us when she was with Ethan but I still haven’t you. I never cheated on you.”
“How am I going to believe that?”
He opened his phone and clicked something before handing it to me. A video played and it was him naked while sleeping. There were girls speaking on the video and then after that Vivian laid beside her and kissed Gray.
“They drugged my drinks to do that and set me up so Vivian could ruin me. She fabricated the evidence and I never thought she would send it to you. You should have told me.”
I bowed down and felt ashamed on myself because we wasted years because I was so dumb and I closed my heart. I didn’t even let him explain and this caused us this. Damn! Okay. It’s my fault but...I smiled a bit.
“I am sorry. I am stupid---” He stopped me by kissing me.
It went on for a minute until both of us gasped for air.
“You didn’t cheat on me with Ethan but you still kiss him and he still-” I kissed him and he chuckled.
“I am sorry…” I bowed down. “I should have listened to you. But, I heard you and Vivian talking that night saying that something happened to you and honestly I just want to save Ethan from Vivian.”
“I am sorry for making you doubt me.” He hugged me. “Let’s talk all about this for once. How about that?”
I nodded. “Let’s start and end this once and for all.”
“No. I don’t want to end this. Let’s just start over.” He kissed me on my forehead. “But first, answer me.”
“What?”
“Do you love me?”
“Why? Didn’t you hear what I said?” I stuck my tongue out and was about to run from him when he caught me and tickled my neck with his breath.
“Do you love me?” I asked him back.
“With all my heart…” He stared at me. “I love you, Deanara.”
“I love you, too, Gray.”
