Chapter 43

~Leah Pov~

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Blake, my husband, was being held captive by the black bird wolves pack, and my own mother, Amanda, was supporting their actions. I confronted her, asking how she could do such a thing.

"Why would you support them?" I asked, my voice shaking with anger and confusion.

"Because they know what's best for the pack," she replied coldly.

"But Blake is my husband," I said, my voice rising. "How could you do this to him?"

Amanda's eyes narrowed. "He's not your husband. You tricked him into chosing you over Sophia."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "That's not true. Blake chose to marry me because he loves me."

"He rejected Sophia because I feed him that you have a power Sophia doesn't possess," Amanda spat out. "You should be grateful for what I've done for you."

I felt a wave of anger wash over me. "I never asked you to do anything for me," I said, gritting my teeth. "I wish you had died instead of Sophia's mother."

Amanda's eyes flashed with rage, and she lashed out, scratching my arm with her sharp claws. "I also wish I didn't have a useless daughter like you," she hissed before storming out of the room.

I was left standing there, feeling betrayed and hurt. I knew I had to do something to help Blake, even if it meant going against my own mother. I snuck out of the pack's den and began searching each cell for Blake.

As I walked through the dark and dingy corridors, I could hear the sound of tortured screams and the stench of blood filled the air. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, but I refused to back down. I was determined to find my husband.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, I stumbled upon a small cell in the corner of the room. I could see a figure lying on the ground, and I knew it was Blake. I rushed towards him and knelt down, tears streaming down my face.

"Blake, can you hear me?" I whispered, my voice shaking.

His eyes flickered open, and he smiled weakly. "Leah, you came for me."

I quickly untied the ropes that bound him and helped him up. "We need to get out of here," I said, looking around nervously.

Blake said, "But we have to look for Mia." I looked at him with confusion and asked, "Who is Mia?" Blake promised to explain later, but first we had to find a way out of the cell he was trapped in. He was too weak to break the door, so he asked me to do it using my wolf strength.

I lowered my head and confessed to Blake, "I've been hiding something from you. I can't shift into wolf form, I can only draw out paw fingers, that's all." I saw the disappointment in Blake's eyes, but he still had hidden strength as an Alpha. With his determination, Blake stood and his strength took over him. He used his hand to tear apart the cell door and urged me to follow him.

We searched the remaining cells, avoiding contact with any of the black bird wolves' followers. Finally, we found Mia, the person Blake was talking about. She was so weak and looked as though she had been tortured. Blake quickly picked her up and we made our way out of the black bird wolves' mansion, trying not to draw attention to ourselves.

As we walked through the forest, Blake explained to me who Mia was. She was a new member of his pack who had been kidnapped by the black bird wolves as a bargaining chip to lure Blake into their trap. He had to save her before we could leave.

After a few minutes, we heard the sound of footsteps approaching us. Blake quickly told me to hide behind a tree while he confronted whoever was coming. It turned out to be one of the black bird wolves' followers who had been tasked with finding us.

Blake easily took care of him, and we continued on our way, looking for a safe place to rest. Mia was still weak, so we had to take care of her. I couldn't believe I was on this mission to save my husband, who was also an Alpha, and his pack member.

After a few hours of walking, we finally found a small cabin in the woods. We entered cautiously, but it appeared to be empty. Blake set Mia down on a bed while I looked around for anything we could use to help her. I found a first aid kit and quickly tended to Mia's wounds.

As Mia started to regain her strength, Blake and I talked about what we were going to do next. We knew that the black bird wolves wouldn't let us go that easily, so we had to come up with a plan to protect ourselves and form a new pack.

We spent the night in the cabin, planning and strategizing. By morning, we had a plan and were ready to face whatever was coming our way. I couldn't believe I was doing this, but I knew I had to support my husband and his friend in any way I could.

But then my ear failed me to believe what Blake just said to me. He wanted me to go back to the black bird wolves mansion and gather information for him? I told him I couldn't do that, but before I could say anything else, he grabbed me by the throat.

"You don't have the right to say no to me," Blake said with a growl. "You've been hiding the truth about yourself from me. You lied to me. You will do anything I say! Or you think I will let you off the hook?"

I gasped for air as he released his grip on me. Mia stepped forward, agreeing with Blake. She said that people like me didn't belong in the werewolves community and I had to make it up to him for my lies.

I couldn't believe my ears. I helped them escape and this is what I get in return? I felt anger boiling inside me, but I knew I had to play along. I quickly agreed to help Blake, not wanting to anger him further.

As I was about to leave the cabin, Mia turned to Blake and asked what if I betrayed them instead. Blake's eyes glinted dangerously as he said, "She dare not. If you do, the next time we cross paths, I'll kill you."

I pretended to agree and left the cabin as quickly as possible, my mind racing with different thoughts. I couldn't believe what was happening. I helped Blake, and now I was his prisoner? This wasn't what I had signed up for.

As I walked towards the black bird wolves mansion, I tried to come up with a plan. How was I going to gather information without being caught? What if they found out and killed me?

When I reached the mansion, I hesitated. But I urge myself to go in, saying that I needed to gather information to help Blake. Reluctantly, I stepped inside, trying my best to blend in with the crowd.

I kept my ears open and my eyes peeled, trying to gather as much information as possible without raising any suspicion. It was a risky move, but I had to do it for Blake's sake.

As I was about to leave the mansion, one of the black bird wolves followers recognized me. I tried to run, but I was caught and brought before their Alpha, Miranda.

She looked at me with a mixture of hatred and amusement. "Well, well, well. Look who we have here. The little traitor who helped Blake escape." She slapped me.

I tried to deny it, but Miranda just laughed. "Save your lies for someone who cares, or for your mother. You're coming with me."

Before I knew it, I was thrown into a cell, feeling defeated and betrayed. All of this for what? A man who didn't care about me and couldn't forgive my mistake?

As I sat in my cell, I couldn't help but think about Blake's words. Had I made a mistake in trusting him? Was this all just a ploy to get me to gather information for him?

I didn't know what to believe anymore. All I knew was that I had to get out of there and fast, before it was too late.
