Chapter 44

~Sophia Pov~

I entered the bathroom and tried to turn on the shower, but nothing happened. I realized that there was no water coming out. I didn't want to disturb Derick, who was on an important call, so I decided to use one of the bathrooms downstairs. After taking a quick shower, I wrapped myself up with a towel and started drying my hair.

As I was flipping my hair, my leg slipped, and I almost fell. Suddenly, I felt someone holding me from behind. I turned and saw Lucas, who had caught me before I could fall. I let out a scream and quickly rushed to my room, feeling embarrassed.

After a few minutes, there was a knock on my door. I opened it and saw Derick, who looked panicked. Lucas had told him what happened to me. My cheeks turned red with embarrassment, and I told Derick that I was fine. He then asked me to go downstairs for dinner, and I followed him.

At dinner, I couldn't look Lucas in the eye. He seemed different, and I wasn't sure what to make of it. During the meal, he passed me the dishes and asked me if I needed anything. I was surprised by his sudden kindness, but I didn't trust him.

After dinner, Lucas came up to me and asked if we could be friends. I turned down his offer, and he looked disappointed. He then told me that if I needed any help, I could count on him. Jessica noticed our conversation and confronted Lucas.

She asked him what he was up to, and why he was suddenly being nice to me. Lucas replied that Derick had not officially asked me out yet, so he still had a chance. Jessica looked sad, and I could see that she had feelings for Lucas. I didn't want to get in the middle of their drama, so I decided to keep my distance.

As the night went on, I couldn't help but think about Lucas. Was he really being genuine, or was he up to something? I decided to talk to Derick about it the next day. I wanted to know if Lucas could be trusted, and if he had any ulterior motives.

But for now, I was just happy to be back in my room, away from all the drama. I changed into my pajamas and climbed into bed, hoping to get a good night's sleep.

As the night grew darker, I couldn't sleep and can't help but think about what had happened earlier. I couldn't believe Lucas was actually being nice to me. It didn't make any sense. But then again, neither did a lot of things that had happened since I arrived at the pack.

I got up from my bed and walked over to the window. Outside, I could see the moon shining brightly in the sky. The whole pack was quiet, which was unusual, as they were usually quite lively at night. But tonight, it felt like something was off.

Suddenly, I heard a loud howl coming from the distance. It sounded like it was coming from the direction of the Black Bird Wolves Pack. My heart raced as I thought about what could it be, wondering if we are safe.

I quickly got dressed and made my way to Derick's room. When I got there, I found him on the phone with someone, speaking in a low and urgent tone. I could hear him saying something about the Black Bird Wolves Pack and the need to rescue Mia.

"Mia?" I muttered.

As he hung up the phone, he turned to me and said, "Sophia, we need to go. Mia is in trouble."

Without hesitation, we gathered the pack and headed out towards the Black Bird Wolves Pack. As we approached their territory, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I had a bad feeling about this.

We crept towards the entrance of the pack, trying to stay as quiet as possible. But as we got closer, we saw that the entrance was heavily guarded. It was clear that they were expecting us.

Derick quickly came up with a plan, assigning different members of the pack to different tasks. Some were to distract the black bird wolves, while others were to sneak into the pack's territory to find Mia.

As we made our way into the pack's territory, we could hear the sound of fighting in the distance. We ran towards it, hoping to find Mia and bring her back to safety.

But as we got closer, the fighting stopped. All we could hear was the sound of footsteps and heavy breathing. Suddenly, we were surrounded by the Black Bird Wolves Pack.

It was a trap.

As they closed in on us, I saw Lucas standing among them. He had betrayed us.

I looked around at my pack members, each one ready to fight to the death if necessary. But I knew that we were outnumbered and outmatched.

And then, just as the Black Bird Wolves Pack was about to attack, everything went black.

I woke up in a dimly lit room, my head throbbing. I could hear the sound of footsteps outside the door. I tried to get up, but my hands and feet were tied.

As the footsteps got closer, I braced myself for whatever was to come. I didn't know what was going to happen next, but I knew that my pack and I were in grave danger.

The door opened and I saw Miranda standing in front of me, a sinister smile on his face.

"Hello, my long-time friend. Welcome to your new home, Sophia," she said. "You and your pack are going to be very useful to me."

And with those words, she walked out of the room, leaving me alone in the darkness.

I knew that I had to find a way out of here and rescue my pack before it was too late. But as I struggled against my bonds, I couldn't help but wonder if we would ever make it out alive.

Suddenly I heard a voice, meaning I am not the only one inside the cell. Derick and Jessica were also inside the cell with me.

I couldn't believe what I saw earlier. Lucas, one of our own, had been working for Miranda and the Black Bird Wolves Pack all along. He had been the one who gave away our plans to ambush them, leading us all into a trap. Derick and Jessica were both heartbroken at the betrayal, and I could see the pain etched on their faces.

I felt a sense of anger bubbling up inside me. How could Lucas do this to us? We had trusted him and thought of him as one of our own. Now, everything had changed, and we were all left feeling vulnerable and betrayed.

As we sat in the cell, Derick and Jessica were deep in conversation, trying to come up with a plan to escape. I could hear the desperation in their voices as they realized that we might not make it out of this alive. I knew that we had to do something, and fast.

In the end, it was Derick who came up with a plan. He knew that we had to escape the cell and get out of the Black Bird Wolves Pack Mansion as quickly as possible. We waited until nightfall, when the guards were less vigilant, and then made our move.

It wasn't easy, but we managed to escape the cell and sneak our way out of the mansion. The whole time, I could feel Lucas's betrayal weighing heavily on my heart. I couldn't believe that he had been working for Miranda all along.

Once we made it back to our mansion, we were all exhausted and heartbroken. Derick and Jessica sat in silence, staring off into space, while I tried to process everything that had happened.

It was then that I knew that things would never be the same again. The trust that we had once had for each other had been broken, and there was no going back. We were all changed, and I knew that the pack would never be the same.

As I lay in bed that night, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next. Miranda was still out there, and we had no idea what she was planning. Would she come after us again? Would we be able to stop her?

The uncertainty of it all made my heart race, but I knew that we had to be strong. We had to stick together and fight for each other. Because in the end, that's all we had left.
