Chapter 54

~Sophia Pov~

After we arrived at Derick's mansion in the city, Derick and I with Anita, one of Derick's followers, whom Derick trust. We dressed up and went to the company. Everyone was looking at us as we walked in the midst of the company. Finally, we arrived at the board meeting where the other board members were waiting for us. Derick sat at the head of the table like the boss he is, and the meeting commenced.

Each of the board members began to stand up and give their own opinions concerning the financial issues of the company. Mr. Sylvester stood up and advised Derick that they should sell out some shares of the company. With the money, they could finance the company's issues. Derick looked at me and asked if I had any objections. I shook my head and told him it was a good idea, especially since it would attract more investors. Derick nodded in agreement and the meeting continued.

Derick then turned to the board members and said, "We will sell out 40% of our shares." The room went silent for a moment, and then everyone started talking at once.

"But sir, 40% is a lot of shares to sell," one of the board members said.

Another board member added, "We should at least keep a majority stake in the company."

Derick calmly responded, "We need the money to keep the company afloat. We'll still have a controlling interest in the company. And besides, who's going to buy all those shares?"

I couldn't help but smile. I knew who was going to buy all those shares. Anita and I had already set up a shell company to buy the shares. Derick had no idea what was coming because I don't trust any outside to buy the shares.

~Mr Sylvester~

As the meeting progressed, I noticed that Derick was getting more and more stressed out. I could tell that the pressure was getting to him, and I knew that this was the perfect opportunity to strike. I excused myself from the meeting, telling Derick that I had to make a phone call.

Once I was alone in the hallway, I quickly dialed Mia's number. "Mia, tell Blake that it's time to put our plan into action," I whispered into the phone. "We need to start buying up shares of Derick's company before anyone else does."

Mia was quick to respond. "I'm already on it," she said. "I've been monitoring the company's stock prices all morning, and I've identified a few key players who are looking to sell their shares. I'm going to start making offers right away."

"Great," I said. "Keep me updated on your progress. We need to move quickly before anyone else catches wind of what we're doing."

With that, I hung up the phone and headed back into the board meeting. Derick was still sitting at the head of the table, looking more stressed out than ever. I could tell that he was starting to feel the pressure of the situation, and I knew that it was only a matter of time before he made a mistake.

As the meeting was coming to a close, Derick announced that he would be taking a leave of absence from the company to deal with his personal issues. I knew that this was our chance to strike, so I quickly send a text to Anita to keep me updated by Derick's moves.

The meeting went on, I observed the reactions of each board member, trying to read their body language and decipher their intentions. I noticed that some of them seemed uneasy with Derick's decision, but they all agreed to it anyways.

After the meeting, Derick pulled me aside and asked what my thoughts were on Mr Sylvester's suggestion. I told him that it was a good idea, but he needed to be careful who he sold the shares to.

"Of course," he replied, "I wouldn't want just anyone to have a stake in my company."

I nodded in agreement, but deep down I knew that I had other plans for those shares. Once the meeting was over, we headed back to Derick's mansion where Anita was waiting for us because I told her to leave the company before us.

"Did you get it?" I asked her, referring to the paperwork I had asked her to obtain.

Anita nodded and handed me the documents. I quickly scanned through them to make sure everything was in order.

"Perfect," I said with a sly grin. "Now it's time for phase two of the plan."

Derick looked at me curiously. "What's phase two?"

"We're going to buy those shares," I said confidently. "But we're not going to do it under our real names. We'll use a dummy corporation to make the purchase, and once we have the shares, we'll have a controlling interest in your company."

Derick's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. "And what do I get out of this?"

"You get to keep your company," I replied. "And you get to keep running it, but with a little guidance from me."

Derick looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Alright, let's do it. But how do we find a dummy corporation?"

"I have someone in mind," I said with a grin. "Her name is Maria, and she owes me a favor."

Derick looked at me skeptically, but I assured him that Maria was trustworthy and would get the job done.

With that, we set our plan in motion. We contacted Maria and gave her the details of our plan. She agreed to help us, and we set up a meeting with her to finalize the details.

As we waited for Maria to arrive, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. This plan was going to work, and soon enough, Derick's company won't fall out because I don't trust Mr Sylvester.

Now that we have plenty of enemies, we need to watch out. And I will make sure that Derick's won't regret making me his right hand partner because we will secure the company together and make sure it doesn't crumble.
