I ran down the lobby to go meet Kate who was waiting happily for me as we looked at the big signpost. There were lots of students also giggling happily at the sight of the post.
I turned to Kate with a big grin. “What do you think of it?” Kate’s eyes were bubbling and I could already tell what her answer would be.
We were going to perform art II and act III to draw in sponsors for the anniversary and that way, anyone who is spotted could be rewarded and sighed with an agency even before the main show, I never knew this kind of thing happens in reality, I thought it was one of the many lies in movies but it was happening.
“This is like a dream come true Ivana!” Kate made a happy shoulder dance. “You know, we won’t only perform on stage before the anniversary, we would have our images out on magazines and the news since there would be a lot of reporters, not to say if we happened to be picked by someone.” A huge grin appeared on her face. “it would be awesome to be signed with an agency and be just like Ryan!”
Hearing Ryan’s name I purse my lips and blinked rapidly turning to look at Kate suspiciously. “Ryan?” I raised the corner of my brows and Kate seemed to realize she had blurted out that she turned around and left the crowd and I went after her.
“Kate!” I called out as I blocked her path looking at her closely. “Don’t tell me you have a crush on Ryan now?” That was the only thing I could figure out in my brain, she was acting suspiciously already.
Kate pressed her lips together as she avoided my gaze and I held her hand blinking as a smile spread through my lips. “I thought you had a crush on Robin or Hinn Carlos, why Ryan? That annoys Ryan?”
Kate took a deep breath and looked at me. “I know, Robin like you and it’s obvious I can’t get him to like me too since you both lived together and are in love with each other, I don’t want to go after my best friends lover which is one rule of true friendship, also, Hinn Carlos likes Katherine, I wonder why you haven’t noticed for a while now, that’s part of the reason I stopped looking at him because I can’t be his anyway and he is pretty bit annoying…”
Kate went on but she hasn’t answered my question yet, she hasn’t hit that point. “Kate,” I pulled her back to me and she swallowed hard. “Why is it Ryan of all guys in this school?” I can’t tell why anyone would want to have a crush on Ryan.
Okay, I admit it, anyone would want to have a crush on him since he was popular and also handsome, he draws attention that was how he got my attention the day I first saw his picture and asked Kate about the BSDH group, he was their leader and he was outstanding which made me want to get to see him and know him.
Luckily he showed up in this school and was friends with Robin and Hinn Carlos, getting to know him he became so annoying and I realized that not every superstar out there should be crushed on, when you really get to know them you would realize you made the worst mistake all your life.
That happened when I get to know Hinn and date Hinn Carlos and I found out was only dating me because he wanted Robin to admit his feelings for me thereby lying to me about loving me meanwhile the person he loves and can’t get is Katherine who has a history with Ryan, something I still don’t understand until this day.
Shit! What was I thinking, everyone has an issue in their life, still why did Kate suddenly like Ryan.
“Speak up Kate,” I told her when she was not saying anything and Kate expelled air from her mouth before speaking out.
“I think Ryan is a good guy, he is nice to me and offered to help me learn more about music.” I almost choked at her words.
“What?” I blinked as I looked at Kate sceptically. “When did you two get that close?” I looked at her intently and she scratched the corner of her hair.
“Well, it started when you got occupied with Robin, I don’t know but I realized you stopped talking to me for a while and I was about getting jealous and angry at you when I recalled the second rule of friendship, and at that moment, Ryan showed up and we talked for a while and also bonded.” Kate looked at me seriously and I felt a bit guilty.
“I didn’t mean to_”
“I know,” Kate flashed me an assuring smile. “I am not mad at you, whereas I know something is going on with Robin lately and you won’t tell me about it since it is related to his family and why he acts cold,” My jaw dropped, I have never known Kate was this observant, well it wasn’t so much of a surprise since at times I was clueless until she calls me to order, she was like my other backbone and I love her.
“Oh Kate, I am glad you understand me.” I linked arms with her but she turned to me sharply.
“We are competing now so back off.” She pulled her hands from mine and I blinked.
“Competing in what?”
“Didn’t you read the notice just now?” Kate tilts her head giving me a sexy glance. “We have to showcase our talents on stage even if we all work as a team, so we are all competing.” I rolled my eyes at Kate’s words, she acts silly at times.
“How does that have to do with linking arms with you?” I pout.
“It has everything to do with that since it is in two days and I have to go practice and wouldn’t want you to watch my moves in order not to get it stolen.” I raised my brows with parted lips as she struck a silly pose.
“You are insane Kate.” I chuckled hard and looked up at her serious face. “Were you being serious right now?” I raise the corner of my brows and Kate nods her head.
“Yes,” She said the words that made the smiles on my face disappear.
“Kate…” Why was she acting cold all of a sudden?
Kate looked sideways and then leaned close to me as she whispered. “Meet me at the school dance hall behind the lobby in five hours, I will learn some dance moves and then teach you.” She whispered and I blinked.
“Who are you learning with?” I raised my brows, Kate was acting odd.
“Didn’t you see the notice, we would be performing in two groups, the other groups would be pushed off if they don’t make it or dance well, so I want to practice with the mean girls even if I hate them, then I will teach you their moves, we would both dance super cool and make it to the main show, what do you think?” She blinked cutely at me.
I looked sideways to realize that the mean girls who were hanging around when I linked arms with Kate were no longer there, was that the reason Kate pushed me off, to pretend we are not so close, why was she acting this way? Kate had never put on an act when it came to me.
“What is wrong Kate?” I looked at her seriously with furrowed brows and she glanced over her shoulder, then she held my hand pulling me over to a corner where there was no one while I waited for what she had to say.
“You drew too much attention to yourself, Ivana, first was when you started dating Hinn Carlos and now you date Robin, and you know how they are the most popular boys in this school.” Kate’s eyes were wide when she told me this and there was a worry line between her brows.
I know I was asking for trouble when I said yes to Hinn Carlos, he was the school celebrity, one known and loved by many girls in school, but I never knew they would also crush on Robin, we both came to this school the same time but his looks and charms got him popular instantly coupled with his amazing talent.
I only realized until yesterday that I was asking for trouble after seeing those banners that brought tears to my eyes.
“The banner from yesterday was put up by the girls in the practice room, all of them, no exception.” Kate went on and I gulped as a shiver ran down my spine, I have that many enemies? “I wanted to intervene when I found this out but, you should know I can’t defeat them on my own, so I thought of another plan which is to know what your enemies are planning and run them, you know, getting close to your enemies,” Kate whispered.
I could already tell what she was trying to say. “Is that why you got yourself in their midst and decided to practice with them?” I raised my brows, if she practices with them then what about me? Was I losing Kate too?
Kate took my hands, squeezing them softly, her big eyes peering into mine. “No, I overheard them say how they want to put you out of the show, like, all your dreams and all you worked hard for in getting to practice and stand on stage, they want to ruin it.” My eyes dilated.
“If you noticed how they push you around lately and make it so you get terminated by the director, that is all part of their plan and I found out when I joined them that they wouldn’t teach you the dance step or let you practice alongside with them for this other show so that you would be terminated this time before the main show, this is why I am going to learn their moves and teach it to you, that way we would ruin their plans.” Kate finished flashing me a cute grin and I held the space between my brows.
“Kate, this is dangerous.” I looked at her with worries on my face. “If they find out about this they would focus their attention on you and it may make your life hard in this school.”
Kate shook her head. “No, it won’t because I and you would make it to stardom.” She smiled broadly and I couldn’t help but shed tears at Kate’s confidence. After making up with Kate it seems everyone I love was giving me hope to hold onto.
I pulled Kate into my embrace and hugged her closely, no matter what, I would stand on stage and Kate would be right next to me while those lights flashing.
